The S 2 introduced a number of design changes, largely due to U.S. legislation. The most distinctive exterior feature is the absence of the glass headlight covers. Unlike other cars, this step was applied worldwide for the E-Type, not just to Americans. Other hallmarks of S 2 cars are a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, an enlarged "mouth" which aided cooling, twin electric fans, plastic rocker switches in place of the Series I toggle switches. A combination steering lock and ignition key was fitted to the steering column, which replaced the dashboard mounted ignition switch and charismatic push button starter. A new steering column was fitted with a collapsible section in the event of an accident. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial "ribbed" appearance.  Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options.

Aston Martin DB6

MKII

Built:                           1967

cc:                               4198

Poweroutput:      210 kw 282 bhp

Weight:                       1520

1,788 produced

The DB6 is powered by the 3,995 cc  twin-overhead camshaft, in-line six-cylinder Aston Martin engine. The engine, continued with its triple SU carb setup] producing 282 bhp (210 kW; 286 PS) at 5,500 rpm; the Vantage engine option is quoted at 325 bhp (242 kW; 330 PS) . Although the weight of the DB6 was approximately 7.7 kg heavier than its predecessor, the stability at high speed, added luggage capacity and comforts for passengers in this grand tourer more than offset any imperceptible loss in performance caused by additional weight. The rear suspension used helical coil springs with ride control that was adjustable from inside the car

My History with this car:2000 Bought the car from a private collection in England2001 Almost 40000 Euros invested in complete engine rebuilt, front and rear suspension serviced and various other works carried out2006 After engine problems , engine and gearbox swap to a Jaguar 4.2 engine with 5 speed gearbox2012 After a accident at a Mille Miglia Tour car was completly bare metal stripped and restored including interior. The original engine was reinstalled but now with the 5 speed gearbox2014 Car was sold (with the biggest regret in hindsight)

The DBR2 was created from a short lived Lagonda project known as DP166 ,This was a multi tube, back bone space frame chassis designed. All Three of the DP166 chassis made were leaning up against the wall of the Feltham racing department awaiting their fate, that was until the chief race car designer for Aston Martin at that time Ted Cutting was asked by John Wyer to build two race cars from two of the three chassis. The engines to be used were the new  6 cylinder, 3.7 litre unit. He had just completed this engine for the DB4. He was allocated four of the six prototype DB4 engines made, these to be used in the DBR2 cars.   Some fundamental changes to the oil delivery system were made before the unit was fitted.
